Our Local Museums
Dinosaur Museum Journey, FruitaOh it is fun! A very hands-on museum full of extremely life-like dinosaurs, some that move and some that make noises. Want to dig up dinosaur bones? Want to learn more about the geology of the Grand Valley and why we have so many fossils in the area? You can do this and more!

Our Local Water Activities
Lincoln Park Pool & Splash PadSummertime in Grand Junction means we need to play in the water! Lincoln Park has a FREE splash pad just outside of the Lincoln Park Pool gates, so stop on by with your towel and snacks and let the littles splash and exhaust themselves in some shade!
Las Colonias Lazy RiverThe Lazy River at Las Colonias is a very shallow and slow off-shoot of the Colorado River. This Lazy River is fantastic to bring pool-like floaties, SUPs, inner tubes, etc. as it is a relaxing ride from one parking lot to another! A float or two is perfect for kids.
Island AcresGet out of town and enjoy the Debeque Canyon! Island Acres has it all- walking, biking, fishing, swimming, picnic and camping sites as well- it's perfect for kids and families! Only a 30 minute drive from central Grand Junction.
Our Favorite Playgrounds
Canyon ViewTalk about a park that truly has everything for all ages! We love this park because the littles can be in their playground while the bigs can be on their playground! A bit tempting for the littles to cross over to the bigs territory, but great play opportunities everywhere!
Sherwood ParkThis playground has had a facelift since I used to play on it when I was a kid, but still is located in Sherwood Park with plenty of green grass for volleyball and soccer games, there are covered picnic areas, some adult workout spots, and a the mile long walking trail along the perimeter of the park!
Lincoln ParkAnd another park that used to be a favorite when I was a kid growing up in Grand Junction! My aunt used to live across the street from it, so we were the luckiest kids alive! Lincoln Park is located close to downtown GJ, in a very mature part of town. The trees are huge and the playground is wonderful!

Our Kid Friendly Bike Trails
Kids Meal- Lunch Loop TrailsUnlike the other Lunch Loop trails, this one is a kind and non-technical trail (which is perfect to encourage the kiddos to challenge themselves and feel more and more comfortable on the bike as they traverse along the edge of the park).
GJ Bike ParkBring friends and have a ball! We have seen leaps and bounds with our kids on their bikes as they watch other kids and try new "tricks" on their own. This park is right off of the Riverfront Trail with easy access and fun for all ages (adults included)!
Riverfront TrailWhether you want to put in some major miles, or just want some flat, paved trail, you can enjoy any stretch of the Riverfront Trail which runs from Palisade all the way to Loma! There are plenty of parking lots along the way to get on your bike and ride, ride and ride!

Great Kid Hikes
McInnis Trails, FruitaTrails, trails and more trails, perfect for all levels of kid hiking. Whether you are looking for a short hike or an all day'er, McInnis has them for you and your kiddos. Get there early, as the word is out- it's a beautiful place to hike- and the parking lots fill up quickly!
Devil's Kitchen, Grand JunctionHands down, this was my "go-to" hike as a kid. This was the only hike I ever wanted to hike back then! Plenty of fun rock outcrops to play in/around/on and the end of the trail is a castle made out of massive red rocks! What more could a kid ask for?!
Trail Through Time, Mack
Are your kiddos into Dinosaurs as much as ours?! This trail is a perfect length at 1.5 mile RT, sprinkled with dinosaur, and geology, information on signs (and rocks- showing where they found real dinosaur bones)! Very helpful to encourage the littles to keep moving forward!
